msi gx680 2011 03 25 450 300x239 MSI Launches Quad Core GX680 Gaming LaptopMSI announced its new generation GX680 notebook built around Intel’s second generation Core i7 2630QM  quad-core processor. It’s the latest in MSI’s growing line of gaming notebooks, because as MSI sees it, “clumsy desktop PCs are out and notebooks are in.” Blasphemy if you ask us, though we do appreciate a well configured gaming notebook just as much as the next person.

In addition to the aforementioned processor, the MSI GX680 comes configured with the following components and options:

  • 15.6-inch Full HD (1920×1080) or HD (1366×768) LED backlight
  • Nvidia GeForce GT GT 555M with 1GB GDDR5
  • Up to 16GB of DDR3 memory
  • 500GB or 750GB with RAID 0 option (320GB also available in RAID 0 configuration only)
  • DVD burner or Blu-ray reader
  • Two USB 3.0, two USB 2.0, eSATA, 5-in-1 memory card reader
  • 2.1 channel speakers with THX TruStudio Pro
  • 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR, Gigabit LAN
  • HDMI, VGA
  • Windows Home 7 Ultimate/Professional/Home Premium

Like most of MSI’s gaming laptops, the GX680 features MSI’s proprietary Turbo Drive Engine (TDE) technology, which offers one-touch overclocking of the CPU and GPU.

No word yet on price or availability.
